Initial Situation
During casting gases evolve. For the final quality of the casting, it is absolutely essential that those gases can easily exit the mould as well as the core. Otherwise, gas inclusions deteriorate the quality. Especially for the cold-setting process as well as for complex castings, optimal core and mould ventilation conditions must be predetermined.
Solution
Langendorf developed Lango®flex foundry, a flexible but yet robust textile core venting hose mainly made from polypropylene filaments. During the moulding process, the hose is incorporated into the mould and/or the core, creating a permeable ductwork to route gases out of all areas of the core. Finally, the hose completely dissolves during casting without leaving any residues.
Result
- The final quality of the cast can be secured
- The number of rejects caused by insufficient core and mould venting is reduced
- The cast is able to enter the mould more quickly, reducing the production cycles.
